My name is
David Cooper. I am a wheelchair-bound paraplegic "for
life" as a result of a car accident in
1994. I am the Owner and Managing Director of Custom
Grip Gloves.
Custom Grip Gloves grew as a result of my accident. A car ran me over as I was a pedestrian
who didn't look before I crossed the road but I was determined it wasn’t going to kill me. Then I started using a wheelchair - I found
that my hands got sore - not just during wheelchair marathons and wheelchair rugby training but also in day to day life.
I realised that this was a problem for many wheelchair people. I wondered if I could find a solution and in doing so provide
myself with worthwhile work and income.
Custom
Grip Gloves has come out of seven years hard work
(design, business courses, the surgeon’s knife). I am
very thankful to the many individuals and organisations
who have helped me get this far.
Custom
Custom Grip Gloves is growing in New Zealand and I am now ready to accept orders from Australia, Asia, North America, UK and Europe..
