 My name is David Cooper. I am a wheelchair-bound paraplegic "for life" as a result of a car accident in 1994. I am the Owner, designer and Managing Director of Custom Grip Gloves. Custom Grip Gloves grew as a result of my accident. I was run over as a pedestrian who didn't look before I crossed the road but I was determined & had the will & needs of additional drive in me that it wasn’t going to kill me. When I started using a wheelchair & learning all the bodily wear & tear marks such as: to your Hands & sprained wrist - prior doing things such as wheelchair marathons (Which i have done & raising money for my seventh day Adventist church and then doing wheelchair rugby training but also from just simple everyday life. I then realized that this was a problem for many other wheelchair people. I then wondered if I could find a solution and in doing so (& having the mechanical background thanks to my Dad & material designing skills i got from my Mum) that this business could eventually provide myself with worthwhile work and income not to mention help my fellow disability community out & potentially being able to offer employment (1 day in the unforseen future). Custom Grip Gloves has come out of 10 years of hard work (incl designing Quadriplegic & Paraplegic, then numerous/ at times long business course's, even the surgeon’s knife-again). Custom Custom Grip Gloves is growing in New Zealand and I am accepting orders from over the world......I am very thankful to the many individuals and organizations who have helped me get this far.
My appreciation & thanks goes out to every one who has in 1 way helped me in the development of this business but most of all my sincere thanks goes out to GOD for enabling me to survive the accident prosper & with this business I wish to THANK our blessed & heavenly father from above..........AMEN
